Adjunct Faculty – Statistics at The Nigerian University of Technology and Management (NUTM)

ROLE OVERVIEW

NUTM invites applications from highly qualified and dedicated individuals to teach undergraduate courses in Statistics. As an adjunct faculty member in the Statistics department, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the academic excellence of our institution and help shape the future of aspiring technopreneurs. This position is part-time and offers flexibility in scheduling.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Course development and instruction

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Descriptive Statistics.
  • Develop and deliver well-structured lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions.
  • Maintain a professional and inclusive learning environment that fosters student engagement and encourages critical thinking.

Mentorship and student evaluation

  • Provide guidance and support to students, including answering questions, reviewing assignments, and conducting office hours.
  • Develop and administer assessments, including exams, quizzes, and projects, and provide timely and constructive feedback to students.

Research and departmental duties

  • Collaborate with other faculty members to develop and revise curriculum, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in the field of Statistics and incorporate relevant research and industry trends into teaching.
  • Contribute to the department’s continuous improvement by participating in faculty meetings, curriculum development, and program assessment activities.

PREFERRED CANDIDATE

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in Statistics or a related field. A doctoral degree is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge and expertise in statistical methods, including probability theory, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and data visualization.
  • Experience in teaching undergraduate statistics courses is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in statistical software such as R, Python, or SPSS.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students and colleagues.
  • Dedication to promoting student success and providing high-quality education.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented academic environment.
